KCUNAC is Not American Owned

Let’s set the record straight KCUNAC is an independent platform. It was created in Newfoundland with the support of volunteers across Canada. KCUNAC is not owned by any American corporation, government entity, or foreign organization. Our mission has always been to provide for everyone that is tired of American owned social media platforms with a homegrown social media alternative that prioritizes freedom, community-driven growth, and independent operation. 

Why KCUNAC Used GoDaddy for Domain Registration

When we first registered the KCUNAC domain, we chose GoDaddy because it offered the best pricing at the time. However, based on community feedback, we are in the process of transferring our domain to a Canadian provider by the end of April. 

Due to ICANN’s 90-day transfer policy, which prevents domain transfers within the first three months of registration, we have to wait until the restriction is lifted. Once that happens, KCUNAC will be fully managed under a Canadian domain registrar.

Why KCUNAC Uses Domain Privacy Protection 

Some users have noticed that KCUNAC’s domain information lists "Domains By Proxy, LLC," which has led to misunderstandings about ownership. This does not mean KCUNAC is owned by a U.S. company. 

When a website domain is registered, the owner’s personal information—such as name, address, and phone number, becomes publicly accessible through the WHOIS database. To protect website owners from spam, hacking attempts, and privacy breaches, many individuals and businesses use a privacy protection service. 

KCUNAC’s domain privacy protection was automatically provided by GoDaddy’s service, Domains By Proxy. This is simply a security measure used by millions of websites worldwide. It has no impact on ownership, hosting, or management of the platform.

Where is KCUNAC Hosted & Operated From? 

While KCUNAC’s domain was originally registered through a U.S.-based provider, our servers are hosted in Toronto, Canada. This ensures that the platform remains independent, secure, and aligned with our mission to provide Canadians with a trusted social media space.
