Kcunac’s External Links policy

A clear approach to how external links and  sensitive topics are shared.

At Kcunac, we’re committed to creating a social space that’s both expressive and community-minded. As the platform grows, we want to ensure that public spaces like the Home Feed remain engaging and easy to follow, without sacrificing your ability to speak freely on topics that matter.

Following feedback from the community and our recent platform-wide poll, we’re introducing a clear approach to how external links and  sensitive topics are shared.

What’s Changing?

This new policy applies to public posts made to the Home Feed. It’s designed to reduce disruption caused by link-heavy or uncaptioned posts and improve the quality of conversation on the platform.

External Links: Keep the Focus on You

If you're sharing a post that includes a link to a third-party source (such as a news article, blog post, or video):

  1. Your post body must include your own words— a summary, opinion, or context for what you’re sharing.
  2. The external link should be placed in the comment section, not in the post itself.

This helps keep the Home Feed social, not a stream of article headlines or self-promotion.

 Sensitive Topics & Visual Content

We welcome open discussions around important topics such as:

  • Politics & world leaders
  • Social justice movements
  • Public health (e.g., COVID)
  • Cannabis and other regulated content

However, when sharing on these topics, especially when attaching images— we encourage thoughtful posting:

  1. Use original commentary or captions when posting related photos or memes.
  2. Avoid sharing screenshots or images pulled directly from political blogs or news outlets without context, as these may be unverifiable and cause confusion.

While these posts can remain public, users are encouraged to use “Friends & Family” visibility or post in private groups when sharing sensitive opinions, heated discussions, or polarizing images, especially if they aren’t open to broad public debate.

When Does This Start?

This policy is effective April 20, 2025

For the first few days, moderation will focus on education, not enforcement. If your post doesn’t meet these guidelines, you may receive a friendly reminder from a moderator to help you adjust.
